This is a track for our Aloha Aina. I originally wrote it to play on the Doctor Trey show out of Kaneohe. I had been driving around O'ahu and felt that it was pertinent. I revisited it and released it as a single in support of the Protect Maunakea movement. There are not many more things in this life that I feel more strongly about.
V1.
Woke up this morning. In Confusion, and I know that there are many, just like me.
We can't talk about revolution. Till we first in our minds are free.
We've got to stop, the fussing and fighting.
The killing, the lying, the back biting.
No more, no more, no more.
V2.
Cause in the streets, in the streets are children dying,
and in their homes, their Mother's cry, cry, cry.
So as we rise to face the day.
As we rise we've got to say, say, say,
We say Imua. Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.
We say Imua. Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.
We say Imua. Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.
V3.
So when I woke up, I woke up with resolution.
To be firm in mind, and strong in dead.
Now as we rise to face the world
as we rise, we've got to say,
We say Imua. Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.
We say Imua. Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.
We say Imua. Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.
We say Imua. Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.
We say IMUA for the youth today,
We say IMUA for those locked away.
We say IMUA, IMUA, Hawai'i e!
We say IMUA for the youth today,
We say IMUA for those locked away.
We say IMUA, IMUA, Hawai'i e!
We say IMUA for the youth today,
We say IMUA for those locked away.
We say IMUA, IMUA, Hawai'i e!
